Empty the Nest founder Sharon Fischman worked for a moving company specializing in helping people transition to new spaces for their new stages of life. She soon noticed a need that wasn’t being met – what to do with years of accumulated belongings that just wouldn’t fit in the new space after the move.
Sharon realized that the issue wasn't just how to clean out homes. The real need is to take the overwhelming task of “emptying the nest” and make it simple and comfortable, respectful and responsible.
What makes Empty the Nest unique is that when you become our client, we treat your belongings with respect. We provide wall-to-wall home clean out that minimizes waste and maximizes reuse.
Our team goes through the home with you – you take what you want, we take care of the rest. If we discover an item during clean out that might have personal value to you – we let you know.
Some of the items are donated – and the donation receipts are sent back to you. Other items are sold for reuse and “upcycling”, often at below-thrift-shop prices in our retail store – reducing the cost of our services. And items that can’t be donated or sold are responsibly and securely recycled.
The great majority of our business comes from referrals…we want our clients to have a great experience and to let people know about our work. We take care of home clean out so that you can feel confident in moving on and moving ahead.
Empty the Nest’s wall-to-wall, home clean out service takes the overwhelming task of "emptying the nest" and makes it simple. Our clients and customers appreciate our respectful and responsible approach and that is why a great majority of our business, both home clean out and thrift store, comes from referrals.
